5.4 Malibu Hobie Phil Edwards

HOBIE longboard shaped by Phil Edwards, undetermined year. Board considered a rarity as it is signed by one of the most iconic surfers in the history of surfing, Phil Edwards. The HOBIE brand was one of the pioneers since they introduced the polyurethane foam boards in the late 1950s together with Gordon “Grubby” Clark. This was a revolution since it allowed to improve the properties of the surfboards and also the industry itself since from then on the manufacturing process would be faster and less expensive compared to the balsa wood boards that were made previously.
